About Us

The Pangere Center was established at The Chicago Lighthouse in 2010 through a generous donation from Steve and Georgiann Pangere. Under the direction of world-renowned ophthalmologist Dr. Gerald A. Fishman, the Pangere Center uses technological equipment and discoveries in biomedical research to advance treatment strategies for various blinding retinal diseases. The clinic attracts patients, researchers and specialists-in-training from here and abroad.

About the Founders

Mr. Pangere, President of The Pangere Corporation, was born with cone-rod dystrophy, a hereditary retinal disease that causes progressive vision loss. He leads a very full life together with his “first lady,” his wife Georgiann, and his “lead lady,” his seeing eye dog Hope.
