Chicago Lighthouse Assistant Director of Low Vision Research

As Assistant Director of Low Vision Research, Meesa’s profound interest in vision care continues to drive her work towards the integration of technology into the vision rehabilitation process. Working alongside the best Low Vision Rehabilitation Scientists and Optometrists in the field, her areas of research focus on the development and assessment of methods to optimize function and performance in daily activities for those with bare or no light perception through innovative technologies like the intracortical visual prosthesis (ICVP) and sensory substitution devices, in addition to optimizing remaining vision in patients with central vision loss. Her ongoing experience allows her the opportunity to asses, modify and create training methodologies and protocols based on the challenges and successes encountered by the visually impaired and blind community. Meesa is a graduate of the University of California, Riverside.
