The Doctors Are In
Meet our new Optometrists, Dr. Coffey and Dr. Pereira, who offer a wealth of expertise and compassion for our community.
When you come through the doors of our Low Vision Clinic, you can know your care is in good hands. Our team of doctors and therapists work to nurture and empower patients at every stage of vision loss. We are happy to welcome two new optometrists to that team, Dr. Brian Coffey and Dr. Christopher Pereira.
Dr. Coffey is passionate about expanding access to vision care. He is a graduate of the Illinois College of Optometry and completed his residency at the Lake City VA Medical Center in Florida. At The Lighthouse, Dr. Coffey provides low vision care and specialty contact services. As a practitioner, he understands that receiving a low vision diagnosis can feel isolating and frightening. “I always remind patients that they are not alone, and that their situation is not unique,” he says. “Other people have overcome it, and now it’s their turn.” Dr. Coffey sees patients at both our Chicago and Glenview locations.
While Dr. Pereira is new to our clinical team, he is not new to The Lighthouse. He completed his residency in Vision Rehabilitation and Geriatric Ocular Disease here, in conjunction with the Illinois College of Optometry. He is a graduate of the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Optometry, with a Doctorate in Optometry. Dr. Pereira is invested in vision rehabilitation, treatment and management of ocular disease and primary optometric care. Thanks to his addition to our team, we now have weekend appointments available. Dr. Pereira sees patients one Saturday per month in our Glenview location.
If you’d like to make an appointment with Dr. Coffey, Dr. Pereira, or another one of our exceptional low vision providers, please call (312)997-3686 during normal business hours.
