2016 Lighthouse Gala Celebrates 110th Anniversary
The Chicago Lighthouse celebrated its 110th anniversary Friday evening, June 3rd with a very special gala that honored former Board Chair Dr. Joel Kaplan, Illinois Supreme Court Justice Anne Burke and Chicago Alderman Edward Burke for their outstanding support of The Lighthouse and people with disabilities.
The festive event, which took place at the Four Seasons Hotel, attracted nearly 400 guests.
Emceed by ABC 7 news anchor and disability reporter Hosea Sanders, the gala also showcased videos featuring a tribute from broadcast legend Bill Kurtis and highlights from different periods in The Lighthouse’s rich history.
Lighthouse President & CEO Dr. Janet Szlyk congratulated the award recipients and extended her appreciation to all the organization’s generous supporters for attending. In addition, she singled out for special praise Lighthouse board member and noted Chicagoan Anida Johnson “Cookie” Cohen who served as honorary dinner chair.
