OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY TIP – MANAGING MEDICATION
Managing medication can be difficult with vision loss. Here are some tips to make it easier:

  • Use your smartphone’s magnifier or the text function on a low vision app such as Seeing AI to read your medication.
  • Ask your pharmacist for large print or braille labels for your pills.
  • Add tactile markers such as bump dots or rubber bands to identify them by touch.
  • Sort pills into weekly medication sorters or automatic pill dispensers.
  • Sign up for Accessible Pharmacy to have your pills mailed directly to your home in presorted pill packs. Call them directly at 888-633-7007.

APRIL CALENDAR of EVENTS:

AUDIO DESCRIPTIVE MOVIE – BATTLE OF THE SEXES
IN-PERSON ONLY IN CHICAGO
TUESDAY, APRIL 16, 1 to 3pm
The 1973 tennis match between Billie Jean King & Bobby Riggs became the most watched televised sports event of all time. Trapped in the media glare, King & Riggs were on opposites sides of a binary argument, but off-court each was fighting more personal & complex battles. With her husband urging her to fight for equal pay, the private King was also struggling to come to terms with her own sexuality, while Riggs gambled his legacy & reputation in a bid to relive the glories of his past. The film stars Emma Stone & Steve Carrell. Rated PG-13. RSVP to Melissa at: (847) 510-2060.

AUDIO DESCRIPTIVE MOVIE – EVAN ALMIGHTY
IN-PERSON ONLY IN GLENVIEW
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 17, 1 to 2:30pm
Evan Almighty is a comedy for all ages. Steve Carell is at his hilarious best as junior congressman Evan Baxter, whose wish to change the world is heard by none other than God, played by Morgan Freeman. When God appears with the perplexing request to build an ark, Evan is sure he is losing it. But soon mysterious deliveries of wood & tools are being dropped on his doorstep, animals of every shape & size are flocking to him two by two, & his self-absorbed life goes from overnight success to almighty mess! It’s a great time for everyone! Rated PG. RSVP to Melissa at: (847) 510-2060.

BOOK CLUB – HELLO BEAUTIFUL:
IN-PERSON IN GLENVIEW & CALL-IN
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 10, 2 to 3pm
This month, we will discuss the highly acclaimed novel, Hello Beautiful by Ann Napolitano, listening time, 15 hours. TBBS Book #DB113288. RSVP to Melissa at: (847) 510-2060. William Waters grew up in a house silenced by tragedy, where his parents could hardly bear to look at him, much less love him-so when he meets the spirited & ambitious Julia in his freshman year of college, it’s as if the world has lit up around him. With Julia comes her family, as she & her three sisters are inseparable: Sylvie, the family’s dreamer, is happiest with her nose in a book; Cecelia is a free-spirited artist; & Emeline patiently takes care of them all. With Julia’s family, William experiences a newfound contentment; every moment in their house is filled with loving chaos. But then darkness from William’s past surfaces, risking not only Julia’s carefully orchestrated plans for their future, but the sisters’ unshakeable devotion to one another. The result is a catastrophic family rift that changes their lives for generations. Will the loyalty that once rooted them be strong enough to draw them back together when it matters most? An exquisite homage to Louisa May Alcott’s timeless classic, Little Women, Hello Beautiful is a profoundly moving portrait of what is possible when we choose to love someone not in spite of who they are, but because of it.
