Commentary: ‘Share a Coke’ Campaign in Braille!
May 19, 2015
I can officially say I have a very good reason for supporting Coca-Cola, especially if one of these days I get lucky and find my name printed in Braille on a Coke can or bottle. As a strong supporter of Braille literacy, I believe that more should be done to spread the word about this system of reading and writing for the blind and visually impaired.
By printing people’s names in Braille on Coke cans and bottles, Coca-Cola is not only giving those of us who know Braille the opportunity to join in the fun of the ‘Share a Coke’ campaign, but it is also promoting Braille and spreading awareness about how the blind read. Unfortunately you can only find a limited number of these cans and bottles in Mexico and Argentina at the moment. I sincerely hope that Coca-Cola decides to introduce these bottles and cans to the United States in the near future. When that happens, I’ll be on the look for a can or bottle with either Sandy or Sandra written in Braille!
