How We Operate
Chicago Lighthouse Industries operates as a social enterprise, providing industrial job training and continuous employment to people who are legally blind through the production of high-quality brand name consumer products for federal and commercial customers. We also perform subcontracting work for outside organizations.

Our History
What began in 1906 as a subcontracting project for a basket-weaving shop is now called Chicago Lighthouse Industries, a sister agency to The Chicago Lighthouse with a mission focused on providing industrial job opportunities for people who are blind or visually impaired. We began producing wall clocks in 1977 for sale to the federal government. Today, we sell to federal, state and municipal agencies, as well as to the commercial market. We have hand produced nearly 7 MILLION high quality clocks to date—each and every one built with pride by people who are blind or visually impaired.
