BrainPort Allows Lighthouse Patient to Enjoy the Cubs at Wrigley Field
CBS 2 Chicago - Jul 27th, 2016
Lifelong Cubs fan Andy Fabino, who is totally blind, can “see” the action at Wrigley Field thanks to a breakthrough visual aid, BrainPort.
This innovative device translates visual information from a digital video camera to a blind person’s tongue through gentle electrical stimulation. It gives individuals like Andy the ability to do such things as recognize and reach for nearby objects; identify letters and numbers; and eventually become more aware of his surroundings.
The Chicago Lighthouse provided training to Andy on how to use BrainPort, which was developed by Wicab, Inc. If you would like more information about the BrainPort please contact Wicab, Inc. at (608) 829-4500 or visit www.wicab.com.
