Jennifer Miller, JD, LL.M.

As Chief of Legal & Governmental Affairs, Jennifer (Jen) Miller oversees The Lighthouse’s legal affairs, government relations, and public policy initiatives. She also supports the organization’s social business enterprise through contract negotiations, contract review, and drafting of documents.

Jen was most recently the Chief External Relations Officer at Legal Aid Chicago. Here, she  oversaw the organization’s fundraising, grants, marketing, and communications team. During her time at Legal Aid Chicago, she helped the organization achieve record-breaking fundraising amounts, established new donor giving societies, and implemented new donor initiatives.

Jen previously worked at The Lighthouse for 17 years in its Advancement Office, rising to the position of Chief Development Officer. During her previous tenure at the organization, she helped lead several large fundraising campaigns, including its $17 million “Envision the Future” endowment campaign. She was also a long-time member of The Lighthouse’s leadership team as the organization experienced transformational growth. She originally began her tenure at The Lighthouse as the Director of Planned Giving.

Jen is a licensed attorney and has a law degree from Washburn University School of Law. She also has an LL.M. in Taxation and a Masters in English. In addition to practicing law early in her career in Chicago, Ms. Miller has taught law at Northwestern University School of Law and Chicago-Kent College of Law.

Jen’s mother taught children who were blind or visually impaired for years in Connecticut.  As a result, Jen has always wanted to help people with disabilities in her career.
