Chicago Lighthouse Partners with South Side Church to Bring Holiday Cheer

In the holiday spirit of one non-profit helping another, volunteers from The Chicago Lighthouse gathered at  the historic Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church on the city’s south side Dec. 17th to distribute food to families in need.

The Lighthouse contingent joined volunteers from all over the Chicago area in unloading delivery trucks, bagging the food and distributing to church members.

Former Lighthouse Board Chair and current Board member Bruce Hague, who is a prime organizer of the event, thanked staff members for volunteering.

Lighthouse President and CEO Dr. Janet Szlyk also extended thanks to staff members and their families for taking time from their busy Saturdays to help those less fortunate.  As a token of her appreciation, she treated them to a delicious lunch at Pompei Restaurant near The Lighthouse.
