Fred Collison, OD, FAAO
Dr. Fred Collison OD, FAAO studied Biomedical Engineering at the University of Iowa, earning a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree. He then attended the Illinois College of Optometry, earning a Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree, and he completed a residency in Primary Care Optometry at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center. He completed Research Fellowship training in Hereditary Retinal Diseases at the Pangere Center for Inherited Retinal Diseases within The Chicago Lighthouse. His primary areas of both clinical and research expertise include inherited retinal diseases, such as retinitis pigmentosa and Stargardt disease, and testing procedures relevant to those conditions, such as electroretinography, pupillometry, and retinal imaging. His current and future research projects involve contrast sensitivity testing and objective testing of patients with ultra-low vision.
