Seniors Program Chicago – Book Club: Inside the O’Briens

Book Club – Inside the O’Briens
Tuesday, 5/22
10 – 11 a.m.

Joe O’Brien is a 43 year old police officer from the Irish Catholic neighborhood of Charlestown, Massachusetts. A devoted husband, proud father of four children in their twenties, and respected officer, Joe begins experiencing bouts of disorganized thinking, uncharacteristic temper outbursts, and strange, involuntary movements.

He initially attributes these episodes to the stress of his job, but as these symptoms worsen, he agrees to see a neurologist and is handed a diagnosis that will change his and his family’s lives forever: Huntington’s disease.

Most participants use the free Talking Books player. If you do not own one but are interested in learning more about the device, contact Laurine O’Donnell or Megan Frankenbach for more information. Have one but not a member in our Book Club yet, just let us know and we can add you to our list.

Unless otherwise noted, all programs take place at The Chicago Lighthouse at 1850 West Roosevelt Road, Chicago, IL 60608.  As a friendly reminder, programs have limited seating. Please RSVP for each event by contacting Laurine O’Donnell at (312) 997-3670 or Megan Frankenbach at (312) 447-3257 , or by emailing Laurine directly.
