Aids for reading, writing and TV viewing such as telescope glasses, high powered reading glasses or bifocals, and magnifiers are available for prescription. With training on devices and guidance from an occupational therapist, you can continue learning, improving, and maximizing your vision.

Below are a few types of devices commonly used by people with low vision.  The devices are available by prescription only.

 A monocular telescope is small and lightweight for spotting distant objects such as a street sign or bus sign. Some can be focused for intermediate distances like items in a display case or museum.
person with Magnifier Magnifiers
Hand-held or stand magnifiers are very popular and come with or without illumination. Great for spotting small print types, however, the stronger the lens, the smaller the diameter of the lens.

Half Eye Glasses
These prismatic half-eye glasses are made much stronger than conventional readers. It allows greater magnification and hands free - but you must hold material closer.

Bioptic telescopes are a prescription pair of glasses with a small telescope mounted on one eye. The telescope can help with distance viewing, like at concerts or plays. Some states allow driving with bioptics with very specific rules and regulations.
