Office Skills Training Program
The Office Skills Training Program (OSTP) helps those who want to increase their employability by gaining essential computer knowledge.
There are two OSTP instructors on staff who develop curriculums in clerical and administrative office practices, and other business soft skills for use in an office setting. They train individuals in computer keyboarding and operation using Microsoft business products.
The computer applications are integrated with the necessary adaptive technologies to assist students who are blind or visually impaired to obtain, enhance, or retain employment.
Students must have a high school diploma or GED to enter the Office Skills Training Program.
Students who do not have any college education must also undergo a vocational evaluation. They must score at least 10th-grade in reading comprehension and have good score in the office skills and computer aptitude portion of the evaluation. Once approved to enter the program, each Office Skills student works with their instructor to select the lessons that they are expected to complete in an 8 week term.
Most students remain in the program for several terms. Some students enter the Customer Service Training Program after completing Office Skills.
