Customer Service Training Program
The Customer Service Training Program (CSTP) is for those who are interested in direct job training. It teaches customer service and specific occupations such as Debt Collection, Telephone Attendant, Telemarketing, and Order Entry. The CSTP instructor researches service industry trends and purchases or develops curriculums in key employment areas. The instructor provides classroom instruction and trains individuals in the skill sets that meet the current market needs.
The CSTP serves adults who are blind or visually impaired and referred by the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS). If the student does not have the necessary computer skills, they may be asked to go through the Lighthouse’s Office Skills Training Program first. All Customer Service students take a general customer service course for a couple weeks and then spend another few weeks studying their chosen occupation. All instruction integrates adaptive technologies to assist students who are blind or visually impaired to obtain employment.
