Listen to The Beacon Show on Sunday, May 23

Please plan on catching “The Beacon” at its new radio home, WCPT (820 AM & FM), at its new time, 4 pm to 5 pm, this Sunday afternoon, May 23rd.
In the spotlight will be a conversation on artificial implants. Joining host Bill Jurek will be Dr. Jose de la Cruz, an ophthalmologist at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary who will talk about artificial corneal implants. Also appearing will be Natalie Suss, an audiologist at the Eye and Ear Infirmary, who will discuss cochlear implants with Lainie Williams.
In addition, Andres Gallegos, an attorney with the Coalition for Hospital Access Initiatives, will comment on his organization’s survey of people with disabilities on how they’re being treated in doctors’ offices in hospitals and other medical institutions.
In other “Beacon” highlights:
Lainie will rundown upcoming events in and around the Lighthouse during her “What’s Happening” segment. Tom Perski, director of rehabilitation services, will preside over another edition of his popular “Tom’s Corner” in which he’ll discuss specific low vision topics and the latest consumer products in our new “Tools for Living” store as well as online to meet the needs of people who are blind or visually impaired. This segment is designed to showcase our low vision service and the fact that we accommodate residents of Des Plaines, Arlington Heights, Elk Grove Village, Skokie, Calumet City, Glenview and Chicago at our recently expanded main clinic and at Northwestern, 675 N. St. Clair.
