Job Seekers

This is an image of someone working on a computer. The Chicago Lighthouse assists individuals who are blind or visually impaired in all facets of finding and keeping a job.

Individuals seeking a job through the Lighthouse's Employment Services Department must first have an intake conducted with the Intake Rehabilitation Counselor. This is an opportunity for the Intake Counselor to learn pertinent information about the client while developing a case history that will assist the placement counselor once the client is assigned. This gives the counselor an idea of the type of job that the person may want and whether or not they are serious about going to work. Depending on the session, the Intake Counselor may not refer the client to placement services, but perhaps back to the Department of Rehabilitative Services (DRS) or to an additional vocational training program.
