About Us

Chicago Lighthouse Industries is a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility which employs over 30 people who are blind in our plant and in our other businesses.  We have one sighted direct labor employee in our plant, all other individuals who work in the assembly, packaging, printing and customer service departments are either legally or totally blind, some with additional disabilities. The use of appropriate adaptive technology where necessary allows our employees to perform as efficiently and effectively as people without physical disabilities.

Industries began operations in 1906 as an industrial training and employment program of The Chicago Lighthouse for People Who are Blind or Visually Impaired.  We began producing wall clocks in 1977 when we secured our first contract with the federal government. Today, we sell our clocks to the federal sector, state and local governments and to the commercial office products market. We have built over 4 million clocks thus far right here in Chicago and are aggressively developing new models to meet the customer’s needs.

In addition to producing wall clocks, Chicago Lighthouse Industries operates the Recipient Identification Number (RIN) Data Entry/Retrieval Program under contract with the state of Illinois, which provides customer service training and employment for people who are legally blind, visually impaired and/or physically impaired.

In addition, the Industries Program has very capable light assembly and packaging capabilities.  We have served many manufacturers over the years to assist them in meeting their requirements.
