About Us

In 2010, the Pangere Center for Inherited Retinal Diseases was established at The Chicago Lighthouse through a generous donation from Steve and Georgiann Pangere. With advanced diagnostic equipment and discoveries in biomedical research, the clinic offers patients expert medical diagnoses and low vision support. In 2020, the Pangere Center Partnership for Inherited Retinal Diseases was formed, with The Chicago Lighthouse and the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences collaborating to provide world-class services.

About the Founders

Mr. Pangere, President of The Pangere Corporation, was born with cone-rod dystrophy, a hereditary retinal disease that causes progressive vision loss. He leads a very full life together with his “first lady,” his wife Georgiann, and his “lead lady,” his seeing eye dog Hope.
