Register for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on Feb. 1st and Run for Team Lighthouse!
We’re banking on you to set new sights! For the first time ever, The Chicago Lighthouse is supporting its own running team in the 2012 Bank of America Chicago Marathon, held on October 7th. Runners who are both sighted and visually impaired are invited to join our winning team to start training and fundraising!
Registration for the Chicago Marathon opens February 1st and fills up fast! We encourage those interested to sign up as soon as possible to ensure their spot in the race.
By joining the team, members agree to raise $1,000 for The Chicago Lighthouse by October 7th. Throughout the year, team members are encouraged to post their training activity, provided by Team Lighthouse, and fundraise on their own personalized fundraising page. This is a great way to keep your friends and family updated about your training progress and the causes you’re passionate about! The Lighthouse will provide fundraising seminars and be fully accessible for any guidance you may need in setting up your fundraising blog.
Team Lighthouse members will have access to a free training program with Chicago Endurance Sports (CES). Whether you’re a novice or seasoned athlete, CES coaches will give you a personalized program to help you reach your goals. Group training sessions will be held at two different locations, twice weekly, with post-workout flexibility sessions with pacers and coaches. A customized, daily training schedule will be delivered to you online along with weekly newsletters, training tips, and program updates to keep you motivated. Fun socials and parties with your teammates will also be held throughout the season!
The Lighthouse is proud to partner with GLASA (Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association), to provide sighted guide runners for team members who are blind or visually impaired.
