Lighthouse recieves $1,000,000 gift from The North Suburban Healthcare Foundation

The Chicago Lighthouse is excited to report that we received our first single foundation gift of $1 million!  The gift was given in two installments, one in December of 2010 and one in March of 2011.

The North Suburban Healthcare Foundation (NSHF) donated these funds specifically to develop a Lighthouse satellite on Chicago’s North Shore.

According to Bev Kroll, NSHF President, “The Lighthouse fits our mission perfectly, which is to promote health, wellness and health education to benefit North Suburban communities in designated service areas.”

The new location will house comprehensive programs for people who are blind or visually impaired of all ages.  Among them will be services for low vision rehabilitation and adaptive technology as well as enrichment programs for children and seniors.

With our main location south of downtown, this is a wonderful opportunity to reach more people to the north, especially many communities with growing senior populations. Stay tuned for developments about our new “Chicago Lighthouse North” location.

We are so grateful to The North Suburban Healthcare Foundation for this transformational gift!
