CompTIA Educational Foundation Honors Lighthouse

Citing its successful efforts in training women and minorities who are visually impaired for careers in information technology (IT), the Lighthouse was given a Creating Futures Award from the CompTIA Educational Foundation (award shown here held by Dr. Szlyk).

Christina Tran, RIN manager at the Lighthouse, accepted the award on behalf of the agency during a special breakfast hosted by CompTIA in San Antonio, Texas on August 11th.

The Creating Futures program provides free IT training and certification opportunities to populations who have historically been under-represented in the IT workforce, including U.S. military veterans, individuals with disabilities, women, minorities, at-risk youth and dislocated workers.

"Our philanthropic efforts are based on partnerships, and without the help of inspiring organizations like The Chicago Lighthouse, we could never have the success we've had this past year," said Charles Eaton, executive director, CompTIA Education Foundation.
