Chicago Lighthouse Low Vision Clinic Relocates to Rolling Meadows from Arlington Heights

The Chicago Lighthouse’s satellite clinic, which has enjoyed a partnership with Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights since 2001, has moved to nearby Rolling Meadows.

The new satellite facility, which is located at the Northwest Community Outpatient Building, 3300 Kirchoff Road, is open the first two to three Thursdays every month.

“We look forward to continue meeting the needs of northwest suburban residents experiencing vision loss,” said Lighthouse President and Executive Director, Dr. Janet P. Szlyk.  Dr. Szlyk noted that the new Rolling Meadows clinic will join the Lighthouse’s existing sites in Elk Grove Village and Des Plaines in serving the area.

The clinic’s in-house optometrist is Dr. Elise Corgiat, a 2005 graduate of the Illinois College of Optometry (ICO).  She had completed the Low Vision/Ocular Disease Residency in 2006 and has been a member of The Chicago Lighthouse staff of low vision doctors since 2006.

“I am excited to continue working with the eye care providers and occupational therapists in the area to provide patient access to the same features that are offered through our main clinic in Chicago,” Dr. Corgiat pointed out.  Such features include low vision examinations, optical prescriptive devices, occupational therapy, psycho-social support services, and other resources that may further meet one’s needs.

She noted that the aging of the massive baby boom generation will bring about a virtual explosion in the numbers of people seeking assistance for vision loss.

One recent patient being treated by her is Angelina Panagakos (pictured with Dr. Corgiat), a Hoffman Estates resident.

“I appreciate the convenience of being able to come in a short distance from my home,” she smiled.
