Thank You

Dear Debra,

I wanted to let you know how very much I appreciated everything that you arranged for Bob and me during my visit to The Lighthouse on March 23rd.  You not only met us at the front door (a most unexpected delight) but saw to it that everything ran so smoothly for my appointments.  Bob told me at great length about the tour you gave him and I definitely will look forward to seeing everything for myself.

Everyone we came into contact with yesterday was wonderful and certainly most helpful.  Obviously, I look forward to getting my new ‘specs’.  Beyond that I was very impressed with the new technology that’s available for people, like myself with low vision.  Everything from a computer program that can actually read to you plus magnifiers that run the whole spectrum from handheld to mounted.  Finding out about additional programs that are available such as the Lighthouse Radio that reads newspapers to those that listen, was really amazing to me.  I’m interested in seeing the studios where this is broadcasted and possibly hearing about the additional resources that might be used in the future like this.

Out of curiosity, the catalog I took with me lists many interesting products.  Some that are quite costly particularly in today’s times.  What do you suggest to a person who can’t afford the cost of some of the items but might really need one?  Are there other resources available to help pay for some of the cost or all of it?

I look forward to my next visit and will be in touch with you to find out when that works well in your schedule as well as mine.  In the meantime, please thank everyone who helped me yesterday from the young lady who greeted me at the clinic and took the time to show me the computer program that magnifies the type, to Roy who tested my eyes.  And, of course, Dr. Crumbliss and Hillary who is the occupational therapist.  She introduced me to a whole new world of technology! Tell Auggy I appreciated him taking the time to come in to meet me as well although he was more interested in licking the desk than anything else.  Meeting the Director was also great.  I can only imagine how busy her schedule must be.

And, last but not least, my special thanks to you! Everything was most appreciated!
