District 1-A Lions – Helen Keller 5K Fun Run/Walk

Sunday, April 28, 2013 - 7:30am

A day of fun, fellowship and great exercise is in store for participants in the Third Annual District 1-A Lions Helen Keller 5 K Run/Walk on Sunday, April 28th.

Best of all, all proceeds will benefit programs assisting people who are blind or hearing/visually impaired.

This very special event takes place at HL Richards High School, 10601 S. Central Avenue in Oak Lawn.  Race day registration begins at 7:30 am with runners starting promptly at 9 am and walkers at 11 am.

Added features for attendees will be a free Hearing screening and also a free Diabetic Retinopathy eye screening.

All 5K runners will receive a T-shirt and all 5K walkers with $50 or more in donations will also receive a T-shirt.  All walkers will receive a participation medallion following the walk.

To register on line, go to the District 1-A Lions website at www.lions1a-us.org and choose “5K Walk/Run.”  Registration fees for the 5K Run are $30.00 and $20.00 for the 5K Walk.  If walk participants raise $50.00 or more in donations, then registration is free.

All proceeds of the Run/Walk go towards funding of the District Lions Clubs Open Area’s account, serving people where there is not a local Lions Club; the Chicago Lighthouse for People Who Are Blind or Visually Impaired, one of the nation’s most comprehensive social service organizations; and the Lions of Illinois Foundation which operates 14 programs serving the visually and hearing impaired.
