Location: Scoozi!, 410 W Huron, Chicago
Tickets: $125 each or ten for $1,000

Tickets can be purchased at the door on the night of the event.

Uncorked, which is produced by the Young Philanthropists Board at The Chicago Lighthouse, raises funds for families with children dealing with visual impairment and blindness.  Tickets include an all-inclusive wine tasting from vineyards around the world, wine throughout the evening, as well as a dinner buffet of wood fired pizzas, salads, pastas and desserts.  Our host for Uncorked 2009 is NBC 5 news anchor Marion Brooks, a volunteer at the Lighthouse and well known as an advocate for a wide variety of charitable causes.  Last year’s event netted nearly $13,000 for Seeing Is Believing (which provides free early-intervention vision screenings to Chicago Public School students) and the Illinois Parents of the Visually Impaired.

We believe that the event is going to be even better this year than last, thanks to the addition of a professionally guided tasting of 20 wines from noted wineries such as Louis Jadot, Cakebread, Burgess, Torrederos and others.  This new feature will allow all attendees to try wines offered by some of the same vineyards that have donated wines to our silent auction and raffle, which are rapidly developing a reputation for its value and breadth of offerings. View complete list now.

Thanks to the participation of our Retail Sponsor, Schaefer’s Fine Wines & Spirits, event attendees may order any of the wines they sample during the tasting or with dinner while at Uncorked.  10% of the purchase price will be donated back to The Chicago Lighthouse, so don’t restock your cellar until you’ve seen us on September 23rd!

With a ticket price of only $125, Uncorked is arguably one of the best values on the Chicago charitable event calendar.  (Must be 21 years of age.)

Highlighted Auction and Raffle Wines:

1.5L bottle of Sloan 2003 vintage (Fair Market Value $1,000)
Wine Spectator: 94 PTS
Wine Advocate: 96 PTSSloan wine bottle.Sloan label.

“Sloan Estate is the newest cult wines similar to Screaming Eagle, Harlan, Bryant Family and the rest. Parker loves this wine having given prior vintages scores of 98, 100 and 100. This is an absolute must for the serious collector. It's remarkable wine.”

04 Bond St. Eden Magnum (FMV $445)
Wine Advocate 96 PTS Bond wine bottle.Bond label.

"Even more captivating than the 2005 Melbury, with extraordinary depth and palate presence is the dense ruby/purple-colored, full-bodied 2005 St. Eden.  This seamlessly constructed 2005 is a sensational effort that is displaying even greater potential than I saw last year. It will drink beautifully for three decades."

05 Colle Manora, Rosso Barchetta, Cuvée Speciale Magnum
Signed by estate owner (FMV $200, without signature)

Not available in USA yet.Bond label.Colle Manora wine bottle.

"This special wine was donated by Mr. Giorgio Schon, a Ferrari race car driver for 25 years and now the owner of the Colle Manora Winery in Piemonte, Italy.  He believes all of his wines must be produced with the same precision used to build a Ferrari.  The wine is a blend of specially selected hand picked grapes. After fermentation, the Barbera component is racked in barriques for 8 months before blending in Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.  The blend is then it aged for another 12 months.

Only 2000 bottles made and only 100 signed by Giorgio."

06 Dunn Vineyards Howell Mountain Cabernet magnum ($150 FMV)
International Wine Cellar: 93 PTSDunn wine bottle.Dunn label.

"Deep red-ruby. Complex nose melds cassis, violet, licorice, musky game, black tea and black olive.  This serious, backward wine turns sweeter on the back end, finishing with broad, dusty tannins, an intriguing note of tobacco and sneaky length."
—Stephen Tanzer, May 01, 2009

95 Bollinger Grand Annee ($150 FMV)                                   Bollinger label.
Oddbins: 18/20 PTS (November 2001)Bollinger label.

"…this incomparably gorgeous and subtle '95 shone both on its own and with the other eight dishes. The wine is wonderfully direct from the start, with a seldom-seen, lemony-elegant fruit of superb Chardonnay combined with a Krug-like oaky complexity. This is hardly the most monumental vintage that Bollinger has ever made, but absolutely one of the most enjoyable and sophisticated."
—Richard Juhlin, Vinfolio

05 Jones Family Vineyards Estate Cabernet Sauvignon magnum ($225 FMV)
9.5/10 PTS, 2007 Premiere Napa Valley Event, Napa Valley Vintners AssociationJones wine bottle.
Jones label.
"Deep ruby color.  Great black cherry, black currant, cherry cola, pomegranate, with some soy, soil, and lead pencil shavings. This has a lushness not normally associated with wines at this price point. A medium to full bodied mouth feel that is long, elegant, and beautifully structured.  A QPR in its class."

2005 Benessere Phenomenon “Super-Napan” Estate Red Wine Magnum (FMV $150)
Wine Enthusiast 92 PTSImage of wine bottle.Image of wine label.

“A distinguished wine… The flavors are myriad and complex, ranging from currants and cherries through anise and plum sauce to the smoky cedar of the oak barrels in which it was aged. Drink now, with decanting, and through 2012. Cabernet, Sangiovese, Merlot and Syrah.”  Wine Enthusiast
