Contract Management Service (CMS) Program

The Chicago Lighthouse Contract Management Service (CMS) Program provides high-growth professional career opportunities for people who are legally blind. CMS employees receive advanced training in Contract Administration at the Defense Acquisition University and provide the U.S. Department of Defense with superior specialized support, closing out government business contracts.

The Chicago Lighthouse Employment Services recruits Contract Closeout Specialists and administrative support staff in collaboration with several organizations, including the National Industries for the Blind (NIB), National Federation for the Blind (NFB), the Veterans Administration, the Illinois Department of Human Services and college Disability Services offices.

CMS employees must be legally blind, have a 4 year degree or equivalent work experience with a business background, be highly proficient in computer technology and assistive technology, and must complete a minimum of 200 hours of online coursework in order to become certified as contract specialists.
