- Support your efforts by starting off with a personal donation - start the race off on the right foot!
To ensure your success, we have included some tips on how to be successful in your fundraising efforts. Create a list of potential donors and contact them for support. Either make a phone call, send an email or snail mail, asking them for donations.
Ask: Friends Family Neighbors Colleagues Dentist, Doctor, Stylist, etc. Social Media Facebook and Twitter can be a beautiful way to grow your support while publically recognizing those who have already donated. Take the time to tag donors in your posts, thanking them for support. This will increase awareness of your participation in an endurance event, while drawing attention to your cause. Provide links to your First Giving page or Team Lighthouse webpage and provide updates on your progress as your continue to raise funds. Send out mass messages to friends, urging them to support you in your cause.
Make a Plan: Break down your total fundraising goal into smaller, more manageable goals. For example set a goal of raising $100 from family and friends, $100 from co-workers. Think about the number of people who can donate and be reached, over the amount that each contributes. You will be surprised at the results!
Hold an Event:
- Drink Package Party: Contact your favorite local bar to organize a party with drink package. Most bars will be able to negotiate for a portion of your guests’ ticket prices going towards your fundraising goals.
- Bake Sale: Enlist a group of friends and family to help bake their favorite treats. Find a venue with potential customers, advertise the cause and see how a sweet tooth will help your fundraising efforts.
- Car Wash: Gather a group of brilliant and bold friends (bikini garb optional) to band together and sud up for The Lighthouse. Ask a business owner to let you use the parking lot and get washing.
- Garage Sale: Want to do something productive with all that “junk” you never use at home? Set up a garage sale, letting patrons know the cause and you’ll be surprised how much they might buy.
Matching Donations: Some employers will match donations to charity made by their employees. Have potential donors check with their employers for double the donation!
